This is a three day class.
Instructor: Bonita Ausmus
Are you a basket lover? Well, this class is for you! We will start by measuring and cutting reed, laying out the basket foundation, upending stakes and weaving and twining the basket body until you have a completed basket to take home. No experience necessary!
Please bring the following household items to class: hand towel, pencil, scissors, tape measure, flat head screwdriver, and super glue. A supply fee of $20.00 per student needs to be paid directly to the instructor at the first class. All other supplies and tools will be provided by the instructor. So, why not come and join the fun, in addition to accomplishing a new skill set or hobby? Please, sign up early, as class seating is limited to 10.
Bonita Ausmus originally learned to basket weave in classes at Leu Gardens approximately 25 years ago. Since that time she has been weaving, learning and teaching, perfecting her art and craft. She now designs her own basket line, including a basket designed for each month of the year, and dyes her own reeds. She has taught basket weaving to both children and adults in locations such as Chicago, Texas, North Carolina and Florida. She is currently teaching at the Center for Lifelong Learning at Rollins College along with teaching private weaving lessons and holding basket making parties.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to FNGLA Certified Professionals upon request.
