Join US for a screening of the episode "Underground UNIVERSITY" from
the Comedy Central show KLEPPER, which features the work of FREEDOM
UNIVERSITY, a modern FREEDOM SCHOOL FOR UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS BANNED
FROM THE TOP PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN GEORGIA. Following the screening,
students and teachers from FREEDOM UNIVERSITY WILL JOIN JORDAN KLEPPER
IN A DIALOGUE ON SOCIAL JUSTICE ACTIVISM AND THE FUNCTION OF POLITICAL
SATIRE IN AN AGE OF SEGREGATION, detention, and mass deportation in
the immigrant community.
JORDAN KLEPPER IS A COMEDIAN, writer, producer, and television host.
He was a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, hosted the
Comedy Central program The Opposition with JORDAN KLEPPER, and starred
in the docuseries KLEPPER. He recently rejoined The Daily Show with
Trevor Noah as a correspondent on the 2020 Trump campaign trail.
Freedom University is a freedom school for undocumented students in
Atlanta, Georgia. Freedom University provides free college-level
classes, college application and scholarship assistance, and social
movement leadership training to undocumented students banned from
equal access to public universities in Georgia. Freedom University
educates and empowers undocumented students and advances their human
right to education by employing liberatory education models in its
classrooms, vibrant direct actions of non-violent civil disobedience
at state and national levels, and human rights advocacy methods in the
international arena.
