The Atlanta Regional Commission is partnering with GDOT, GRTA/SRTA,
and all public transit operators to explore ways to better collect,
manage, and use transportation data for real-time decision making and
long-term planning through data GOVERNANCE.Key regional ITS
stakeholder groups include the following areas/subject matters:
* Traffic Operators
* Transit Operators
* Asset Management Professionals
* Public Safety (emergency response, reducing secondary crashes,
evacuation, etc.)
* Freight and Logistics Industry Members
* Private Sector Technology Providers (apps, widgets, real-time
data, etc.)
While transportation data have always been a key part of ITS, the vast
increases in the amount of available data and types of data available
(e.g., associated with mobile devices, CVs, new technology service
providers) create tremendous opportunities to support transportation
management, and operations. Having the infrastructure in place to
better manage these data is crucial in being able to use it
effectively for planning and real-time decision making.
Successful data governance requires strong coordination between every
level of government and strong partnership with the private sector. We
need your input to help us understand the current data landscape in
the region and how you would like it to grow and change.
