REGISTRATION GUIDELINES
Advance registration required. Limit of 2 participants per Early Head
Start -Child Care Partnership (EHS -CCP), preferably 1 grantee and 1
CCP attendee. Participants are asked to commit to attend both days for
best results. Capacity limited to 30 total participants (first reply,
first confirmed basis). This 2-day seminar is included with general
registration for RIVHSA's 2020 Annual Training Conference & Expo
(ATCE).
FULL DESCRIPTION
The National Center on Early Childhood Quality Assurance presents the
Strengthening Business Practices for Child Care Programs series.
Participants will acquire tools implementing and administering sound
business practices in child care centers and family child care homes.
The training is designed to strengthen providers’ foundational
knowledge of sound fiscal management and business operations.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES
1. Equip program administrators and those who support them with
knowledge and skills to successfully operate child care/Head Start
business
2. Participants will understand financial reports, how to project
business costs, and how to use a budget and financial reports for
decision-making and planning strategically for future goals.
Participants will Identify internal controls and how they can
strengthen the fiscal health of a child care program.
3. Participants will identify the tools to recruit qualified staff,
examine the elements necessary to support retention of talented staff,
and understand how the elements contribute to the organizational
system that supports staff.

A. Fiscal Management
1. Budgets, Projections, and Planning
* Learn a process for building a budget and how to use it for
decision-making throughout the year.
* Understand how to project business costs, generate additional
income, and plan strategically for future goals.
2. Financial Reports and Internal Controls
* Introduce financial reports that can help you to better manage the
program’s finances.
* Understand the concept of internal controls and how they can
strengthen your program’s fiscal health.

* Understand the value of marketing efforts that are focused both

* Be able to articulate the features and benefits of the program and
understand how to use them as marketing tools.
