The CURRAHEE CHALLENGE TAKES PLACE FROM THE BASE OF CURRAHEE MOUNTAIN
ON THE COLONEL ROBERT SINK TRAIL, the training site of the 501st,
506th, 511th and 517th Parachute Infantry Regiments seen in Band of
Brothers, Saving Private Ryan & The Dirty Dozen. Come and join us for
an excellent and challenging 5K run/walk or 10K hill run. PLEASE NOTE:
the finish line will remain open until 11:30am.COURSE
Both the 5K and 10K are very strenuous courses. The start and finish
line for both races is on Ayersville Road near the Currahee Memorial.
The 5K runs approximately halfway up Currahee Mountain to the water
stop and turns around. The 10K last half mile is especially steep. The
turnaround for the 10K is at the historic elevation marker as seen on
the right. This marker will be sitting on a table near the top of the
mountain.
It is recommended that all 10K runners can complete the run in a
2-hour time frame. It is also recommended that all walkers register
for the 5K event.
