Join Chelsie and Rosie to learn the basics of American Sign Language
in this FREE “Mommy and Me Signing Circle,” designed for moms and
babies (birth to age 5) but open to all who are interested in learning
ASL. Chelsie began learning ASL as her 5th language when her daughter,
Rosie, was born with profound hearing loss last year. She is eager to
bridge the gap between our deaf/hard of hearing and hearing/speaking
communities and her goal is to facilitate communication between moms
and babies, hearing and deaf, speaking and non-verbal. Together, we
will explore introductions, family dynamics, alphabet, numbers,
colors, feelings, home/school/work and common verbs. We will have fun
with the language in this laid-back learning environment,
incorporating signing familiar songs. Each week will have a specific
focus and is not designed as a progressive “course,” which builds
one week to the next, though you will improve your vocabulary and
communication ability the more you attend. Every week is offered at no
cost to the participants, but space is limited, so be sure to register
in advance. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our love of
this beautiful language. See you soon! September 23 - Alphabet/Intro
