join us for an informative talk by Andrew Seidel, lead attorney for
the FFRF, on his new book "The Founding Myth: Why Christian
nationalism is Un-American. The book features a foreword by author
Susan Jacoby and a preface by FFRF Co-President Dan Barker. It will
debut in May with positive reviews by many including renowned
constitutional scholar Erwin Chemerinsky who describes it as "A
beautifully written book" that "explodes a frequently expressed myth:
that the United States was created as a Christian nation".
Andrew Seidel is the Director of Strategic Response at FFRF, where he
uses his law degree to challenge religious bullies. He graduated cum
laude from Tulane Univ. (04) with a B.S. in Neuroscience and
enviromental science and magna cum laude from Tulane Univ. Law school
(09). He studied Human Rights and International Law at the Univ. of
Amsterdam. When not fighting for the 1st Amendment & FFRF, Andrew
writes for Think Progress, Religion News Service, Rewire news & FFRF's
Freethought Now!
The Q&A will be moderated by BN President Mandisa Thomas. Some brief
announcements about activities, future meetings & local issues will
follow.
