FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
20 HR MODULE
DRS. JEN DORN AND CELESTE BOLINDuring the teacher training, you will
learn anatomy and physiology as it pertains to practicing yoga,
teaching yoga and its health benefits.
Being extremely knowledgable about how the body works and knowing how
yoga works helps one to perform postures more skillfully, this will
advance your offering as a teacher and create a safe space for
exploration.
We will dive into the workings of the nervous and musculoskeletal
systems, joint movement or lack thereof, and ways to access the sacred
vessel of the nervous system (our spine,) learn about common injuries
and medical conditions.
We will cover how to prevent injuries from happening in class, as well
as go over posture modifications for students with injuries or medical
conditions.

* General Human Anatomy and Physiology
* Dynamics of Breathing (integrating breath, posture, and movement)
* Yoga and the spine
* Nervous System (sympathetic vs parasympathetic)
* Musculoskeletal system (structure vs function)
* Anatomy Trains
* Anatomy and Physiology and how it relates to Asana
* How to speak and translate anatomy to students confidently
* Understand how to get the most out of a posture for every type of
body safely

**Understanding anatomy as a yoga teacher is crucial for a students
safety, you may often encounter several injuries, surgeries falls,
repetitive stress syndromes, sprained ankles, frozen shoulders in one
class. A yoga teacher must be confident in guiding a student, in order
to facilitate healing and repair. Injury can easily occur if not
guided correctly and confidently.
HOURS:
Friday 5:30 - 10 PM
Saturday 11 am - 6 pm
Sunday 8 am - 3 pm
