Moniuszko's Opera 'Jawnuta'. The Polish Opera in London presents the
UK premier of Jawnuta by Stanislaw Moniuszko. Olga Maroszek returns to
London to appear in the title role of the fortune-telling Gypsy
Jawnuta in Moniuszko's opera based on a Gypsy themed poem by Kniaznin.
Supported by Jolanta Wagner (Chicha) and a complete cast in a new
production for the Polish Opera in London by Feliks Tarnawski whose
London credits include Straszny Dwor, Hrabina, Paria and Fliss.
Jawnuta is an Gypsy fortune teller who, many years ago, kidnapped a
child and raised her as her own daughter Chicha. Olga Maroszek has
been a soloist at the Lodz Opera Theatre since 2010 and sings
principal parts in operas by Puccini, Verdi, Moniuszko, Mozart among
others including the leading role in Bizet's Carmen and she has
appeared as a guest in Poznan and Bialystok. This is her 3rd
production in London. Jolanta Wagner, as well as being a soloist at
the Bydgosc Opera Nova, is a regular guest in Poznan, Krakow and the
National Opera in Warsaw where most recently she sang in a new
production of Manru.
