HASHANA, THE JEWISH NEW YEAR, TAKES PLACE IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
AND ROUND CHALLAH IS TRADITIONALLY EATEN TO SYMBOLIZE THE CONTINUOUS
CYCLE OF THE SEASONS AND YEARS.IN THIS HANDS-ON PROGRAM, PARTICIPANTS
WILL LEARN HOW TO BRAID A ROUND CHALLAH BREAD. THERE WILL BE HOMEMADE
DIPS TO ACCOMPANY THE CHALLAH, AND AS WE SNACK, WE'LL LEARN ABOUT THE
FASCINATING HISTORY OF THIS UNIQUE BREAD. RECIPES AND CHALLAH TO TAKE
HOME. BEVERAGES AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. AGES 12 AND UP. REGISTRATION

WHAT TO EXPECT: Participants will get to make and take home ready to
bake challah bread. There will also be fresh baked challah to eat.
The challah is a yeasted wheat-based bread. Please bring a valid ID
for alcohol purchases.

Mrs. Esther Lifshitz was born and raised in Johannesburg, South
Africa. At sixteen she left to study in Chicago, Australia, Israel,
Czech Republic, and New Jersey. Esther graduated from the Thomas
Edison State College in New Jersey and the Teachers Seminary in
Melbourne, Australia with an emphasis in early childhood
development. She was a preschool and elementary teacher for five
years in Prague and New York, and met her husband Rabbi Mendel
Lifshitz, in New York. They have five daughters and four sons.
Rabbi and Mrs. Lifshitz moved to Boise in 2004 to establish the Chabad
Jewish Center. Esther serves as a mentor to countless Idahoans. As
the only kosher caterer in Idaho, Esther has developed a following for
her Jewish and ethnic cuisine. Every Friday, she can be found in her
kitchen baking her most-famous-in-Idaho challah bread.

WHAT IS JUMP?

WHAT ARE MY TRANSPORT/PARKING OPTIONS GETTING TO THE EVENT?
You may bus, bike, drive, walk, skip, etc. Check BOISE's bus schedule

and have bike racks to secure your ride. If you plan to drive, PAID
PARKING is available on the 3rd and 4th levels of the JUMP parking
garage or in Simplot's below ground parking garage, both accessible
from the Myrtle Street entrance located between 11th and 9th
Streets. PLEASE NOTE, THE BELOW GROUND PARKING GARAGE IS ONLY
AVAILABLE AFTER 4PM UNTIL 6AM ON WEEKDAYS AND ALL DAY ON
WEEKENDS. Credit/debit cards accepted only.

WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
We depend on your enrollment for a successful class so please plan
your schedule carefully. Classes which do not meet minimum enrollment
are subject to cancellation. Refunds are issued in full if the class
or program is cancelled, if you cancel at least seven days before the
starting date of the class, or for documented medical reasons. Please
