What is Upward Inertia?
Upward Inertia aims to improve the mental, physical, and
social-emotional health of underserved populations through the use of
therapeutic yoga and wellness education. Our programming is built
around a model of empowerment and self-efficacy. We use a combination
of discussion, mindfulness, meditation, and movement to provide
students with the skills that can help them manage their emotions,
improve the mind-body connection, maintain sobriety, identify and
change their habits and patterns, and change their lives. At this
time, we are working primarily within the prison and court systems,
aiming to provide a wrap around service to those at risk for criminal
behavior, currently incarcerated, and recently released.
