Slow Food STL will be hosting our 1st Slow Food SUMMIT ON SUNDAY, June 7th from 9:30 am-5:30 pm Tickets to this event: $50 Kids 15 and under $12 All proceeds from this event will go directly toward the Slow Food STL Small Farm Biodiversity Grant Program. We have awarded over $87,000 to area farmers and producers since 2009. https://slowfoodstl.org/projects/biodiversity-microgrants/ [https://slowfoodstl.org/projects/biodiversity-microgrants/] This conference-style event will include: - Keynote by Erica Cunningham of Food Church. - Talks and panel discussions featuring local farmers, producers, makers, and chefs. - A farmers market - Tastings - Cooking demos featuring local chefs - Happy Hour and networking Our topics include: - Slow Food, Slow Meat, Slow Fish, Slow Wine, Slow Beer, Slow Spirits, Slow Chocolate, Slow Cheese, and Slow Grains. - Good, Clean, and Fair practices - Food Accessibility - Regenerative Agriculture - Urban Farming - Supporting the Local Food Economy - Food as Medicine Featured speakers: David Bohlen of Bohlen Family Farm Autumn Sij and David Blum of Such and Such Farm Tyrean Lewis of Heru Urban Farming James Forbes of Good Life Growing Crystal and Eric Stevens of Flourish Chef Rex Hale Chef Mike Miller of Kitchen Kulture Chef Chris McKenzie of Mac's Local Buys Brian Pelletier of Kakao Artinces FabulouslyVegan Rona Leah, Urban Farmer Steven McGehee, president of Slow Food STL Jenn DeRose of Known & Grown STL Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization, founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us. Since its beginnings, Slow Food has grown into a global movement involving millions of people in over 160 countries, working to ensure everyone has access to good, clean and fair food.
