One of these days, France will give Roussillon the recognition it
deserves, and elevate it from its current status as an appendage to
Languedoc. Once known only for sweet fortified wines made from Muscat
and Grenache, this region’s dry reds and whites are very worthy of
your attention. The arid, mountainous terrain, with its thin, poor,
rocky soils, is planted to vine varieties similar to those of the
Southern Rhone, and the wines are usually blends. And the Catalan
culture has more ties to Barcelona than to Paris. No famous names to
entice you, but trust us – you’ll taste some real stunners
tonight! And yes, we’ll include something sweet.
