Hosted by Rio Grande Jewelry Supplies and Creative Side Jewelry
Academy
The future of the jewelry industry relies heavily and is molded by
educators, students and mentors of the craft. Growing and maintaining
accessible jewelry programs is of the utmost importance in privately
run schools, non-profits, mentor programs, high schools, academic
programs and beyond. Our organizations are responsible for
passing jewelry and metalsmithing skills on to current and future
generations.
We invite instructors, program directors and students who are
currently enrolled in a long-term program (or attending workshops more
than twice a year) to connect and collaborate during this meeting of
curious minds. Let’s spend this time working together to voice
our desires as we discuss the future of jewelry and metals education
and instruction on a grand scale. This is a first-come,
first-served event and space is limited to no more than 24 people.
Snacks and beverages will be provided.
During this time, we would like to discuss:
· What are instructors currently teaching or see a need to
teach?
· What do students want to learn?
· What content or educational materials can Rio Grande provide to
assist you?
· 5 years from now, what are your projections for the industry,
for your school, instructors, students and your own jewelry career?
· What does the current change in technology mean for the future
of your business? (Digital manufacturing/CAD/3D printing) How do you
feel about it?
· What developments in the jewelry industry have the most
impact on your future planning?
