The Toxic Workplace: Strategies to Eliminate Workplace Bullying

- RECOMMENDED FOR MANAGERS & EMPLOYEES -Workplace bullying is repeated mistreatment of a less-powerful person targeted by a perpetrator. It is offensive conduct that includes verbal abuse; behaviors that are threatening, humiliating or intimidating; and interference with work getting done. Bullying is costly for employers, and if not addressed, can escalate into illegal harassment. This training will help participants define workplace bullying, list types of bullying behavior, tell the difference between workplace bullying and illegal harassment, explore reasons it is important to confront and eliminate workplace bullying, and provide guidelines to eliminate bullying behavior. REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS: Trainings with the Illinois Department of Human Rights - Institute for Training and Development are accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Illinois Human Rights Act. TRAINING MATERIALS: All training materials will be sent via email and must be printed out and brought to class. Materials will no longer be distributed on site. An email containing a link to training materials will be sent out 1 week prior to the training schedule.
