About this event:
Thursday nights at The Hyde are made for jazz heads and music lovers.
The evening embodies the spirit of traditional jazz clubs, where
musicians play their passions while people gather to listen, eat,
drink, dance and socialize in a mature and sophisticated atmosphere
without the distractions of cell phones and social media. Experience
the cocktails, food, and service that speak to the times where music
and personal engagement were the primary interests of guests.
Join us for a featured performance by FRED JACKSON JR.'S ERUDITION
PROJECT + A LIVE DJ SET BY FATHOM DJ.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
FRED JACKSON, JR. - THE ERUDITION PROJECT
This project celebrates the migration of the sound that travels from
Texas to Chicago. This sound became known as avant-garde or free jazz.
Although these compositions highlight people or episodes in life that
inspired Fred. They are also based on concepts that he has heard or
has been working on. He dedicates this project specifically to John
Carter and Bobby Bradford for whom were some of the pioneers of this
approach.
John Carter and Ornette Coleman went to I.M. Terrell highschool
together back in the 40’s It was Ornette who encouraged Carter and
Bradford to form a group. The John Carter / Bobby Bradford Quartet.
This is his tribute to that quartet and the sound and style that they
expressed. The openness and orchestration of this group allows one to
explore and investigate in an unrestricted manner as if one were free.
Free as if the only requirement of oneself is to listen then respond
in their own unique way. Which takes us back to music's truest form...
“Call and Response.”

hip hop, classic to nu-soul, acid jazz to rare grooves, afro to
