About this Event
*Ancient Future*
By Danger (aka Dan Wininger)
Opening Reception July 3rd, 6:00pm-8:00pm
*Free with RSVP*
Los Angeles artist Dan-ger (Dan Wininger) creates hand-cut collages that fuse surrealism, outsider art, and medical imagery into bold, unsettling compositions. Drawing from vintage anatomy books, found magazines, and forgotten ephemera, his work echoes the dreamlike dislocations of early surrealists like Max Ernst while channeling a deeply personal, intuitive process. In Dan-ger’s world, bodies are spliced, identities dissolve, and the unconscious is laid bare.
*Presented within the historic setting of
the International Museum of Surgical Science, these collages invite
viewers to see dissection not only as a scientific act—but as a poetic one.*
*About the Artist:*
Dan-ger (Dan Wininger) is a self-taught collage artist based in Los Angeles. Working with hand-cut found materials, he creates raw, psychologically charged images that explore the body, identity, and the absurd. Influenced by surrealism, punk aesthetics, and underground comix, his work has appeared in zines, small press exhibitions, and outsider art shows across the West Coast. Ancient Future marks his first institutional presentation.
The International Museum of Surgical Science acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
