The Uniquely You Tea Party offers a safe space for girls that identify
as members of the African diaspora, ages 8-11 to share their stories.
It is designed to strengthen the social and emotional development of
pre-adolescent, girls that may have been effected by systems of
oppression and colorism, under the guidance of intelligent,
self-actualized, professional, women from the Oak Park Community.
The tea party serves as a platform to reframe the narrative of beauty,
body-image, and intelligence. Our goal is to provide a culturally
responsive program that encourages, affirms, and offers support to
girls that are experiencing difficulties navigating spaces that were
not historically designed for their unique, cultural needs. We
recognize that access does not always equal acceptance.
Ase Productions Inc. is dedicated to empowering our children through
events that are uplifting, educational, and fun while building the
skills needed to become confident leaders of tomorrow!
Tea party dresses and attire are recommended however, it is not
required.
NOTE: The Echo Center is facilitating space but this is an 'Ase
