Description WELCOME THE WINTER WITH TRADITIONAL INDIGENOUS MUSIC,
dancers, and family-friendly arts/crafts, as well as story-telling by
Gina Roxas, Executive Director for the Trickster Cultural Center
[https://www.tricksterculturalcenter.org/] , ethnobotanist, and
citizen of the Prairie Band Potawatomi. Learn about indigenous
peoples’ connections to the winter solstice in this multi-cultural
celebration. We’ll end with a community dance which everyone can
join! Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided, along with a
campfire and warming stations on the patio! Activities will be moved
indoors in case of inclement weather.
Doors will open at 11:45am and will remain open until capacity is met
(first come, first serve) or 12:00pm when the welcome ceremony and
cultural exhibition begins. If you arrive after doors are closed,
you’re welcome to check out the arts/crafts tables in the lobby and
stay for the post-ceremony activities.
