IT’S EASY TO FEEL LOST WITH HOW TO HELP CLOSED-OFF, ANXIOUS
CHILDREN. IT’S ALSO EASY TO BE INTIMIDATED BY AGGRESSIVE CHILDREN.AS
CLINICIANS, WE KNOW THAT EARLY INTERVENTION CAN MAKE A HUGE IMPACT ON
CHILDREN’S FUTURES, BUT SOMETIMES IT’S FRUSTRATING TO TRY TO
CONNECT WITH CHILDREN, AND SOMETIMES WE CAN FEEL HELPLESS, WONDERING
IF WHAT WE ARE DOING IS ACTUALLY HELPING THEM.
Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is an EVIDENCE-BASED method that
has proven to be effective and is DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE for
children ages 3 to 12 (and sometimes for younger or older children
depending on the situation). It is effective in treating anxiety,
aggression, and trauma, along with many other obstacles children face.
The purpose of this two-day training is to provide participants with
an introduction to CCPT and to help participants GAIN THE SKILLS
NECESSARY to employ CCPT with clients. This workshop will draw from
neuroscience, Humanistic theory, Attachment theory, and the power of
play to teach participants the theoretical principles of CCPT and
demonstrate its effectiveness on children and family systems. The
training will utilize a combination of lecture, discussion,
demonstration, and coached practice (including role-play) so that
participants can master the six core skills of CCPT, thereby enabling
participants to walk away with confidence to implement this
evidence-based method of play THERAPY. This training is for
licenced mental health professionals, or current students studying to
become licensed in a mental health field.
THIS TRAINING WILL EQUIP YOU TO:
1) MASTER THE SKILLS OF CHILD-CENTERED PLAY THERAPY so that you can be
connected to your child clients and you can have confidence in your
ability to facilitate growth
2) Be grounded in the 8 CORE PRINCIPLES OF CCPT so that you can
discern how to respond in unique situations
3) UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF PLAY and how play therapy sessions
facilitate growth and address problematic behavior
4) MONITOR PROGRESS through the use of assessments and the four CCPT
stages so you know how you are helping and you are able to communicate
that progress to parents
CCPT is an exciting and effective approach to help CHILDREN OVERCOME
DIFFICULTIES. Utilizing neurobiology and humanistic theory, clinicians
can USE THE POWER OF PLAY TO ADDRESS UNDERLYING CAUSES. This training
will be helpful for clinicians working in a variety of settings,
including schools, private practices, and in-home settings.
IN THE SPIRIT OF CHILD-CENTERED PLAY THERAPY, HANDS-ON, EXPERIENTIAL
LEARNING will abound in this training, as clinicians will be able to
get a taste for the power of this therapeutic method. Clinicians will
be prepared to implement Child-Centered Play Therapy to help foster
healing for children with diverse diagnoses and behaviors.
THIS TRAINING IS ACCEPTED BY NIRE, A PROVIDER OF CHILD-CENTERED PLAY
THERAPY CERTIFICATIONS.
Come prepared to play . . . and walk away with the confidence to use
Child-Centered Play Therapy with your clients!
