Caribou Autumn Migration

  The open country makes wildlife sightings a daily experience on the Noatak. Thousands upon thousands of caribou from the Western Arctic Caribou Herd migrate through the Noatak Valley on their way to wintering grounds south of the Brooks Range.One of the most spectacular parts of it is when caribou swim across the Kobuk River on their way to the Richardson and Ogilvie mountains in the Yukon Territories.
