ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response, and it refers to
a specific set physical sensations triggered by sensory stimuli. These
sensations are often felt as euphoric waves of tingling static
centering around the head and spine. There have been reports of ASMR
responses from nearly every type of sensory and cognitive stimuli, but
the most widely-experienced form of stimulus is auditory/visual.After
a year of experimentation and refinement, Mrs. Jug has developed a
series of new ASMR instruments. Each is a considered, sculptural
object with distinct and subtle sonic character. Moving beyond the
idendifiable signifiers of traditional ASMR, the work
makes surprising speculations about possible environments and
biologies. Listeners will be plunged into a non-human experience via
the physical euphorias of the classical ASMR experience.
Given the listener’s dependence on headphones, as well as the
video-dominated nature of the culture, ASMR as a collective experience
has been for the most part non-localized and asynchronous. Mrs. Jug's
wireless headphone systems will provide a synchronized ASMR experience
for multiple listeners in the same room.
Each performance is approximately 40 minutes long and will be limited
to 6 tickets.
Wireless headphones will be provided for each listener during the
performances.
There will be 4 performances per night.
