The Civil War

8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Ended

Inspired by the Ken Burns PBS documentary series about the CIVIL WAR, Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn and lyricists Jack Murphy and Gregory Boyd created a series of pop, country and gospel songs that are based on letters written by soldiers, speeches from Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass, and poetry from Walt Whitman, Sojourner Truth and Maya Angelou. The show was nominated for 4 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Showbiz Players have received multiple awards for performing this musical. They last performed it at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in 2006 for the Tall Stacks Celebration. This will be the 3rd version of the production and Frank Wildhorn has provided a new song for this production. The production is a powerful and moving experience. It is not about the battles or who won or lost. It looks at that time in our history through the eyes of the people who were there. It is a true history lesson for all of us. Please Note: There will be historical photographs projected throughout this production, some graphic in nature.
