Sassy, irrepressible, and wonderfully profound…Cleveland native Camille “Saba” Smith—is a force to be reckoned with. A passionate, powerhouse of talent: Smith is the quintessential slash artist. Blessed with a five-octave vocal range—she is a brilliant, self-taught vocalist.
Singing is what brings her joy, and has kept her fascinated for decades! She is also known as the inspiring flow-poetess, “Saba Earth WordSpirit.” She is featured in a documentary called, Queen City Kings.
Smith is the founder of the musical ensemble “Saba Jazz,” as well as a number of other well-known groups. Always in-demand: Camille “Saba” Smith is a versatile studio vocalist and front person. She believes that the key to making great music is diversity in a variety of genres. Acutely sensing the changing needs of her listeners, her performances are a vehicle to connect with the divine.
This artist is also ablaze about connecting with people! She is an accomplished actress and humorist, as well as a griot and author. Smith hosted a weekly radio jazz broadcast entitled “Saba’s Jazz,” for several years on WAIF, 88.3 FM. She is a talented voice-over artist, emcee, and public speaker.
Smith sang with MUSE, Cincinnati Women's Choir—for over a decade. With MUSE she was a featured vocalist in the documentary, “Why we sing,” by Lawrence Dillion. She is also a member of The Martin Luther King Chorale, and of The Cincinnati Black Theater Company. She is also a member of St. John's UCC Chancel Choir,
Miss Smith is also a member of God's Earth with Love Gospel Ensemble, W/Phillip Brown. She is also a proud, dedicated member of Fluidity, a Creative Choral Community—based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her audience is beloved to her!
