program with L Autumn Gnadinger's "Notably Untested Spiritual
Gestures." L, a native Louisvillian, recently completed a two-year
Core Fellowship at North Carolina's prestigious Penland School of
Craft. Formerly an artist who worked primarily with ceramics, they
have recently also begun making works on paper and with various fibers
and found materials. Contemplative, lyrical, elegant, even mournful,
these mysterious works quietly declare an urgent exploration of a
personal cosmology that speaks of otherness, of ceremonies and rituals
both fictional and familiar, and of establishing an identity in a
society and a culture that is at best undoubtedly shifting and at
worst often seems to be disintegrating before our eyes.
