Mishima Ceramics - Fall session (Instructor: Pam Hansen) - Kittery, ME 2026

The Mishima technique can be traced back to its origin in Korea. This technique will be applied on a hand-built plate during this class. With this ceramic technique, the student will inlay slip (rather than scratch the top layer as in Sgraffito) to reveal a design of the student’s choosing. You’ll apply slip to the plate, apply wax resist on top, scratch your design into your leather-hard plate, then fill the lines in with color, to produce intricate lines and patterns. You can add additional colors to the piece to finish the design before firing. no class 2/25 Material Fee: $50, payable to instructor
