HIKING CAN BE A LOT OF FUN WHETHER IT’s a couple hours on a local trail or hike up one of Maine’s many mountains. Appropriate shoes and clothing; hydration, a map, a local weather report (including one at altitude in places like the White Mountains) and an understanding of trail conditions and personal/group conditioning are the difference between a fun rewarding experience and an uncomfortable-- even dangerous one.
