Learn easy to implement steps for creating stunning, four season FLOWER GARDENS WITH PERENNIALS, FLOWERING SHRUBS AND ANNUALS. Topics include site assessment; plant selection for continuous color spring through fall; design principles and techniques for beautiful, sustainable beds; arranging plants based on mature heights; plus drafting a design to scale and building a plant list. The second half of the class focuses on superior, time-tested perennials, flowering shrubs and annuals as well as their care. The talk will be presented by Kerry Ann Mendez. Kerry Ann is an award-winning garden educator, author and design consultant based in southern Maine. Since 2015 she has presented over 300 lectures to more than 30,000 gardeners in 20 states and Canada. As an exceptionally popular educator and communicator, she has received over 450 five-star reviews from her lecture audiences. In 2014, she received the Gold Medal award from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society for "Exceptional teaching and writing that increases public enjoyment and appreciation of horticulture." She has also written four gardening books, with the most recent, The Budget-Wise Gardener, released in February 2018. Tickets are $45 per person and include the 3 hour presentation, handouts, plant catalogs and light refreshments.
