Join US for the second in-person work PARTY AT MT JOY ORCHARD. Mt Joy
is partnering with PRESENTE MAINE TO BUILD NEW BEDS IN THE ORCHARD
THAT CAN BE PLANTED FOR ANNUAL VEGGIES. The vegetables grown by
PRESENTE WILL BE DISTRIBUTED ACROSS THEIR NETWORK IN SERVICE TO
GREATER FOOD SECURITY IN PORTLAND. The Resilience Hub is excited to
offer our support to this project. The first work party was a success,
thanks to the Mt. Joy organizing team which has instituted safety
protocols designed to lower the risk involved with in-person
gathering.
We are asking all volunteers to wear masks and carefully keep at least
6 feet between people. To help make it easier to maintain 6 + between
all volunteers, we will be splitting the day into 2 shifts of 3 hrs
each and only having 10 people working at a time, to facilitate that
we will be using sign up genius.
Hand washing station and materials to sanitize tools between uses will
be available.
Please dress for the weather and bring a water bottle and work gloves.
If you have your own tools, especially mulch forks and iron rakes,
please bring them (one less item to sanitize).
We have spaced materials piles well apart so that people can keep
distance easier. We will be asking volunteers to stick to one job as
much as possible to minimize the amount of tool sanitizing that needs
to happen. If more people show then we planned on, we have back-up
tasks that can spread folks sparsely across the multi-acre site.
We will likely have more work parties soon if you can t make this one!
