Capoeira is a Brazilian art form which combines martial art, dance, musical rhythm and movement. Capoeira is a dialogue between players - a conversation through movement which can take on many shades of meaning. Capoeira started 400 years ago in Brazil, when the Portuguese brought slaves from Africa to work in their plantations in South America. Capoeira emerged out of the traditional roots of those African slaves as means of achieving their liberation. In this club, students will learn the basic movements, routines, and music for playing Capoeira. Each class provides a great workout for people of all ages and levels of physical fitness.  This class is geared towards the complete beginner, but is open to all levels of experience. The class is FREE for USM Students and Faculty;  General Public: First Class is FREE; all others $5 gym entrance + $10/class
