Description (Age: 13+) Nothing excites an audience quite like the
lights going down as the sound of the overture washes over them from
the pit. But how do you get to opening night? In this class, explore
the unique opportunities and challenges playing in the orchestra of a
MUSICAL PRESENTS, including reading charts and scores, following a
MUSIC DIRECTOR, and playing in an ensemble as well as exploring the
different styles that make up the art form. Each session focuses on a
style matching the current show being rehearsed by Levine MUSIC
THEATRE. Students have the opportunity to work with the professional
MUSICIANS FROM THE PRODUCTION AS MUSIC DIRECTING STUDENTS AND LEVINE
MUSIC THEATRE PERFORMANCE STUDENTS PRESENT A CONCERT OF THEIR WORK AT
THE END OF THE CLASS. Students must have a letter of recommendation
from a Levine Faculty Member, their private instructor, school
band/orchestra teacher, or MUSICAL THEATRE DIRECTOR. For more
