Opening Reception | IMMEMORIAL: Shanthi Chandrasekar + Susan J. Goldman

Join the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) as we celebrate the OPENING OF _IMMEMORIAL_ with a public RECEPTION AT THE BETTY MAE KRAMER GALLERY AND MUSIC ROOM ON FRIDAY, October 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. This exhibition features new works by artist and master printmaker SUSAN J. GOLDMAN AND THE INTRICATE INK DRAWINGS AND PAINTINGS OF SHANTHI CHANDRASEKAR. _IMMEMORIAL _will be on view at the Kramer Gallery from Friday, October 12 through Friday, December 7, 2018.​ The OPENING RECEPTION IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  ------------------------- ABOUT THE ARTISTS SHANTHI CHANDRASEKAR  has been drawing and painting since early childhood. Her interest in understanding different media has led her to experiment with sculpture, photography, printmaking and papermaking. She has also been trained in the traditional art form Tanjore Style painting. While many of her works are influenced by her Indian heritage, her true inspiration comes from the mystery and majesty of the world around her; her muse lives where the scientific overlaps with the spiritual. She won the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award 2013 and 2016 for Works on Paper. She was awarded the Individual Artist grants from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, MD in 2009, 2013 and 2016.  She also won the Maryland Traditions Master Apprentice Award to teach Kolam drawing in 2010. www.shanthic.com [http://www.shanthic.com] SUSAN J. GOLDMAN ​is an artist, master printmaker, filmmaker, and teacher. GOLDMAN RECEIVED HER BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS FROM INDIANA UNIVERSITY-Bloomington in 1981 and her Master of Fine Arts from Arizona State University-Tempe, in 1984. Since completion of graduate school, GOLDMAN HAS ALWAYS HAD A WORKING STUDIO, and other artists have always sought her out to either train them or assist them to produce their work. After moving to Washington in 1990, GOLDMAN TAUGHT PRINTMAKING AT THE CORCORAN COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN, MICA, Georgetown University, while simultaneously working for ten years as a Master Printer and Program Director at Pyramid Atlantic. Susan began Lily Press® as a private studio in 2000. www.susangoldman.net [http://www.susangoldman.net] About Kramer Gallery Kramer Gallery is the first and only art gallery dedicated specifically to showcasing Montgomery County's emerging and mid-career visual artists.
