The April NCR-SHE meeting will count for (1) PDH credit and focus on changes to Joint Commission standards with first person observations from a recent Joint Commission visit. We will focus on issues that have been challenging for hospitals in the current inspection cycle and how findings were applied using the new Safer Matrix. If time allows, we will discuss how one hospital managed air pressure relationships and employing a BAS to manage temperature and Relative Humidity in critical locations. A continental breakfast (coffee, donuts, etc.) will be served at 7:30 AM.

Dennis Smith, Senior Consultant, MSL Healthcare Partners
Dennis Smith joined MSL in 2016, and serves as a Senior Consultant. Prior to entering Healthcare Facility Operations, Dennis had over thirty years of experience as a General Contractor and Construction Management and had the opportunity to hold the position of Director of Facilities for a hospital on which he had been a party to on a large renovation and expansion project. Over a period of twelve years, he progressed from Director of Facilities for a medium sized hospital to Assistant Director of Facilities for Catholic Health Initiatives and finally as National Director of Facilities for CHI with responsibility for creating the leadership and management structure responsible for the Environment of Care in about 70 hospitals in 18 states. These responsibilities allowed Dennis to be actively involved in regulatory readiness, including The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, EPA, and a large number of state and local jurisdictions. Other duties included energy management, emergency preparedness, due diligence on acquisitions, and meeting budget and cost reduction goals as National Director in a Fortune 50 company. Dennis holds the following certifications: Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
