Schnittke, Suite in the Old Style
Beethoven, Spring Sonata
Ysaye, Solo Sonata No 2
Schnittke, Rondo
Sarasate, Zigeunerweisen
PROGRAM DETAILS:
This RECITAL FEATURES BEETHOVEN’S beloved SPRING SONATA, an
open-hearted greeting to the new season!
Similarly optimistic and joyful, SCHNITTKE’S SUITE IN THE OLD
STYLE is a wonderful introduction to the late Russian composer.
Schnittke was in love with the Baroque Period – this sonata is
actually based on film music written by Schnittke in the baroque
style.
Next, we turn to virtuosity and fire with the famous ZIGEUNERWEISEN
BY SARASATE. Beloved and admired by students and professionals
alike, Sarasate’s lyrical, exciting, and romantic music showcases
the diva-esque side of the violin!
SCHNITTKE’S RONDO introduces a new side of the composer. Still
highly approachable, this pieces shows flashes of the composer’s
ironic side.
An astonishingly difficult work, the YSAYE’S SOLO SONATA NO 2 is
sure to impress. Huge chords and lightning fast scales are typical
of Ysaye, but this sonata also includes his more intimate, simple
musical style.
Violinist Joshua Peckins and pianist Eliko Akahori perform these
masterpieces live, in intimate RECITAL VENUES THROUGHOUT GREATER
BOSTON. Program may be changed without notice. For other
