REGISTRATION FOR USA MEN'S MASTER'S INDOOR TRIALS FOR 2021 MIWCIn
preparation for the 2021 WHA MASTER'S INDOOR WORLD CUP, to be held
MARCH 10-14 2021 IN PENNSYLVANIA, we will be holding TRIALS AND
SELECTIONS FOR THE USA MEN'S MASTER'S INDOOR TEAMS ON JUNE 5TH,
BEGINNING AT 5PM BOSTON University, or via ONLINE SELECTION PROCESS.
The in person trials is intentionally located the day before the
Shooting Star Masters tournament for outdoor, since a large number of
masters players are participating there.
COMPLETE THIS REGISTRATION TO REGISTER FOR IN-PERSON TRIALS OR TO
APPLY FOR ONLINE SELECTION PROCESS.
WHAT AGE RANGES WILL BE CONSIDERED?
We are selecting for O40, O45, O50, and O55 men's indoor teams.
AM I ELGIBLE?
All players born in the calendar year 1981 or before are age-eligible.
A player must be a full-time resident of the United States for 12
months prior to the world cup, or be a US citizen to be eligible to
represent a US master’s team. All players must be current USAFH
members.
WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION COST?
Registration cost is $55 (plus taxes and fees). However, this is
discounted to $45 for those registering by March 31.
WILL THERE BE FITNESS TESTING?
All players will be required to demonstrate current fitness levels.
This may be done at the in-person trials or completed via video
submission prior to trials date. In case of documented injury,
players may request an exemption in writing prior to trials date but
will be required to demonstrate fitness before confirmation of a
spot. The fitness tests are designed to be quick, simple, and
provide a useful baseline assessment, while keeping injury risk low.
The tests are: Field players: 800m run, for time. Goal keepers: 20
burpees, for time (how-to video
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU8QYVW0gDU]).
HOW DO I APPLY VIA ONLINE APPLICATION / WHAT IF I CANNOT ATTEND THE
TRIALS?
We strongly recommend everyone who is interested in being considered
for a team to attend the trials; this will provide the best chance for
selection. However, we will still consider players who are not able
to attend in person, via online application.
In case of injury or emergency, please
email usamensmastersindoor@gmail.com to provide medical documentation
and to see what accommodations can be made. Any accommodations for
injury or emergency will be made on a case by case basis by the men's
master's indoor subcommittee.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
All players who wish to be considered for a team must register,
regardless of whether they will attend the in-PERSON TRIALS. To
register, purchase a ticket to this eventbrite event and fill out the
associated form. BE SURE TO REGISTER EARLY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF
EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNTS.
WHAT IF I MISS THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE?
The deadline is firm -- register by June 4th for consideration for the
2021 MIWC. In 2019, the committee did indeed deny late applicants,
and we expedt to enforce this policy similarly this year.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THE TRIALS?
Expect to begin with fitnes testing -- see below for details -- and
then some amount of drills, small sided play, and full game play as
directed by coaches and / or selectors. Because multiple age groups
will be at this trials, there will be built in rest periods while
groups alternate. There will be coaches and selectors present at
the trials.
WHAT ARE THE SELECTION CRITERIA?
Selectors will be assessing indoor skills and knowledge, indoor team
play, fitness, and ability to execute tactics and systems for the
indoor game.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT IF SELECTED?
Indoor is a team game, and team preparation is critical for success at
the MIWC level. We expect there to be the following mandatory team
commitments, where all selected players are expected to attend.
*
JANUARY 2-3, 2020: Training Camp. Location TBD, but will be either
Philadelphia, Boston, or Toronto.
*
FEBRUARY 19-21: Training Camp + NIT’s. Richmond, VA. Team training

WILL I ALSO BE ABLE TO PLAY IN THE SHOOTING STARS OUTDOOR TOURNAMENT
THAT WEEKEND IN BOSTON?
