Join us in Boston, MA on Sunday, June 24th for United 4 SOCIAL
CHANGE’s PUBLIC SPEAKING WORKSHOP FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. We
will spend the day teaching students SPEAKING AND ADVOCACY SKILLS TO
DEVELOP THEM INTO STRONG AND CONFIDENT PUBLIC SPEAKERS. We will also
examine basic and advanced concepts in SOCIAL ADVOCACY. By the end of
the WORKSHOP, students will have a speech ready to be given on a topic
of their choice.
WORKSHOP DAY WILL RUN FROM 10AM TO 4:00pm. Refreshments and lunch will
be provided. Students should bring a laptop or tablet upon which they
can comfortably type. Please get in touch with us beforehand if that
is an issue, we will arrange for alternatives for as many students as
possible.
Students will be allowed to choose their own area of interest for
writing a speech. Possible topics can be, but are not limited to,
women’s rights in China, the race divide in Hollywood, and
environmental issues affecting our world.
Students will receive a personalized certificate of completion.
We have a limited number of spots due to the individualized nature of
our program!
Cost
The cost of the WORKSHOP IS JUST $10 and covers the entry fee and
food. (We always try our best to accommodate those who cannot afford
this. Please feel free to get in touch with me at
pritens@united4socialchange.com, and we will work something out!)
The Democracy Center is partially wheelchair accessible, no accessible
bathroom on site. The Mandela, Parks, and Chavez rooms are accessible,
but the Library is not. Wheelchair users are welcome to use the
accessible restroom at Daedalus while we plan our improvements for
bathroom accessibility. To reach that bathroom, exit the ramp and turn
left on Bow St, at the next building (Daedalus) use their accessible
entrance and their restroom will be on the right. More information at:
