* * Limited to 12 Adult Participants * * * Are you someone who just
can't sit still while listening to catchy music? * Do you have little
or no formal dance training but *love* to dance? * Do you value
collaboration over competition? * Do you try not to take yourself too
seriously and enjoy being around others of the same stripe? Then
DanceProv! is for you! In this 2-hour introductory workshop you will
learn basic skills for improvisational ensemble dance including: *
mirroring the music * mirroring each other while giving and taking
focus * staying "in discovery" with your body, the music and each
other All the while getting great exercise, meeting great people, and
having great fun! After a 90-minute class, you and your fellow
students will then put on a 25-minute performance using what you've
learned to an audience of friends and family that you've invited. What
participants have said about DanceProv with Peter: "Freeing!" "When
your body reacts to the music, you never know where it will take you!"
"It's very exhilarating to go on a journey with Peter of not thinking
and just reacting." "Being expressive and playful and interacting with
other movers blasted me out of my box, and I loved it." "Peter lets
your inner voice show through movement and music!" "A great dose of
fun." From Peter: "I was fortunate to grow-up in a home with one
parent who was a classically-trained musician and another who played
by ear. As a result, I appreciate all approaches to music but have
leaned towards the improvisational. After falling in love with improv
comedy and musical improv, I studied improvisational Music Direction
with Mike Descoteaux, Artistic Director of Improv Boston.
Collaborating with those who love the spontaneity and joy of this form
of creative expression has become one of my favorite things." -- Peter
