If you're interested in learning how to handle a staff or a long stick as a form of self-defense, then you should consider attending this introductory workshop on the bo (staff).

In this workshop, the 5-5-5 (postures-blocks-attacks) bo basics, attack-defense applications, and the 'Shuji no Kon Sho' form (time permitting) will be covered. It is open to anyone regardless of martial art style or experience however you have to be at least 13 years of age. That's right, no previous experience in any form of martial arts training is required! You will be taught how to handle a bo (staff) from the beginning. This lineage of Kobudo is from the Shinken Taira/Gansho (Motokatsu) Inoue tradition.  For other details, please check the instructor's web page Yuishinkai Kobujutsu USA.

Bo (staffs) are not provided so please bring your own or just a broom handle (without the brush itself, of course) is adequate. There is no charge but all attendees are required to complete and sign a registration & release form. Please make sure that you arrive at least 10 minutes early to fill out the form. Wear something comfortable if you don't have a Karate uniform. Feel free to bring a friend and please indicate that when you RSVP. No photographs or videos are allowed, however photographs or videos of the workshop might be taken by the instructor for event promotional purposes.
