The 11th ANNUAL YUM: A TASTE OF IMMIGRANT CITY ON JUNE 10, 2020 (new
date as a result of the global pandemic) from 7 PM-9 PM will now be a
remote EVENT. Stay tuned for more information about the EVENT
INCLUDING A TIMELINE AND LOG ON INSTRUCTIONS. The evening will
include entertainment, an panel discussion, and an awards presentation
honoring the important work of José A. Palma from the National TPS
(Temporary Protected Status) Coalition and Sabrineh "Sabi" Ardalan
from the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical at Harvard
University.
José A. Palma just returned to Justice at Work after spending a year
coordinating the National Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Alliance
and leading a national campaign to achieve permanent residency for
people protected by TPS. Born in Usulután, El Salvador, José came
to the United States in 1998 and has lived in Lynn, MA since 2002.
Sabrineh Ardalan is clinical professor of law at Harvard Law School
and director of the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program
(HIRC). At HIRC, Ardalan supervises and trains law students working on
applications for asylum and other humanitarian protections, as well as
appellate litigation and policy advocacy.
YUM promotes immigrant-run local restaurants, highlighting
contributions of the city's immigrant communities.
