Art Opening - There Is No Other

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THERE IS NO OTHER A solo exhibition of mixed media works by artist Leslie Sobel THERE IS NO OTHER EXPLORES THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN OURSELVES AND OTHER PEOPLE AND OTHER ENTITIES LIVING AND NOT. Our concept of separation lets us distance ourselves from caring for each OTHER, for animals, for plants and for the entire world. As artist Leslie Sobel isolated during the pandemic and began making the work for this exhibition and for recent climate-centric curatorial projects she found herself thinking about how distance is an artificial construct that lets us protect ourselves from the consequences of not caring. These works are about connection, about natural networks and about finding beauty in a time of stress, fear and isolation. They are a mix of media with oil paint, printmaking, encaustic and collage and a range of sizes from 8” x 8” to 20” x 40”, all on cradled panels. November 19-December 18 22 North Gallery 22 N.
