confidence my daughter has gained by attending Mr. Garrison's classes.
She picked up a lot of new moves and strategies from the classes. She
is so much motivated that keeps practicing and playing chess all
through the week. My child didn't start chess until 5th grade, and I
wasn't sure she would catch up. This class got her up and running
quickly and with confidence. She liked the class and enjoys playing
whenever she can. Mr. Garrison is a terrific instructor, especially
when teaching the younger kids strategies. As someone who played chess
as a kid (without instruction), it's fascinating to see the logic of
the game revealed. Chess seems to be so much about looking ahead and
making logical predictions and I'm so happy to have my son learn these
skills. I also love the way he gets used to losing graciously and to
see losing as a part of learning. I was little hesitant while starting
chess class for my kid in KG because I thought too early for him. But
it's not the case. He learned more than what I expected from him.
Thanks to the instructor who is so encouraging always. Class meets in
art room. This is an update from the printed catalog. New students are
required to purchase a "Chess Tactics Workbook" on the first day of
class for $20. Grades 1st Grade - 12th Grade Location THURSTON ART
