KARA GRAINGEr offers a seductive, distinctly modern take on roots,
blues and soul. With sultry, mesmerizing vocals, engaging songwriting
talent, and fiery slide guitar work, Kara boasts an impressive set of
skills. The Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist evokes
comparisons to Bonnie Raitt, but she bears a style all her own.
Kara's accomplishments are many. Her debut solo album, Grand and Green
River, was released in 2008. Produced in the US with David Kalish
(Rickie Lee Jones, Los Lobos, Jason Mraz), the album stayed n the top
30 of the Americana Charts for 38 straight weeks. The album received
the Best Roots CD award in the year it was released. Two more albums
followed: "LA Blues," and "Shiver and Sigh," and her fourth recording
is in the works.
Kara has also toured extensively performing throughout the US, Europe,
and Asia. She has opened for many legendary musicians, including Buddy
Guy, Peter Frampton, Taj Mahal and Johnny Lang, to name a few.
Making the night extra special? KARA'S RHYTHM SECTION for the
evening WILL BE none other than the ANN ARBOR BLUES SOCIETY'S OWN
clinic leaders, JOHN BOCHNOWSKI on bass AND EVERETT REID on the
drums.
THE KIDD OR THE DEACON are two Lansing area musicians that have worked
