Ewok & Run

We are excited to announce our upcoming event, the Ewok and Run at River Bends Park, Shelby Township. This 5K run/walk is through the scenic trails of Riverbends Park. This trail is flat, with a few light inclines/declines. Generally an easy run! Teacher’s Pet is an innovative program that transforms the lives of at-risk youth by blending shelter dog care and welfare with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and trauma-informed practices. By partnering with juvenile justice and community mental health settings, we offer a unique 10-week curriculum where students learn critical life skills, such as empathy, patience, and responsibility, through hands-on interaction with shelter dogs. Our evidence-based approach not only empowers these young individuals to overcome emotional and behavioral challenges but also prepares them for vocational opportunities in animal care. We are currently running programs in Oxford, Pontiac and Macomb. LESS
