ALONG WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO PRACTICE SELECT ASPECTS OF WHAT HAS BEEN
PRESENTED.

WHAT IS UX?
A brief review of what UX truly is (and what it is not).
EXERCISE 1: HEURISTIC ANALYSIS

The importance of knowing and applying best practices, common
convention, and proven patterns and methods to optimize design
efforts.
EXERCISE 2: WIRE FRAMING AND INTERACTIVE PROTOTYPING

The purpose and methods associated with communicating design direction
and bringing life to design, providing resources for UX research.
EXERCISE 3: INTRO TO UX RESEARCH
*
Presenting basics of UX research and using wireframes and prototypes
for guerilla research among classmates
CONCLUSION: UX STRATEGY
An overview of the decision-making process behind how UX is applied to
help drive success for users and businesses alike.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Darren Hood has been teaching UX seminars and workshops at Grand
Circus for six years. With over 21 years of experience in
human-computer interaction and 21 years of experience in instructional
design and training, he currently serves as a User Experience
Specialist at Quicken Loans. He’s an adjunct professor for Kent
State University’s UX Design Master’s program and an adjunct at
Lawrence Technological University, where he teaches interaction and
interface design. He holds a M.S. from Syracuse in Information
Management and a M.S. in User Experience Design from Kent State.
He’s also pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and
Administration.
