WHAT GREAT THINGS COME FROM AFRICA?
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Students will witness the life of a traditional African village
through drumming and traditional dress. We alternate between
interactive rhythms with drum segments as well as storytelling that
educate and inspire. As part of this interactive performance, we will
use community peer praise as a traditional element in African
performance. The program is a great way to learn about the rich
history of the African people.
CLASSROOM ACTIVITY
What is Africa, a continent or country? Do you know the names of
African instruments? Do you know the names of any African Kigs or
Queens? Do you know any African langauges? Discuss some art forms that
are distinctive to the continent.
