Youth Intro to Sewing Machine offers an introduction to operating the
sewing machine, focusing on safe and effective use of the machine
including winding the bobbin, threading the machine and executing
straight and zig-zag stitches to sew seams on cloth. Over the course
of two weeks, students will become familiar with essential sewing
machine parts and practice safe use of the machine. This course will
be conducted by Artist and sewing instructor and founder of REACH,
Alice Brinkman. If you have a working sewing machine at home, you are
encouraged to bring it to use at class. If not, we have sewing
machines for you to use. Participants in Sew Fun course may attend a
free, twice-a-month Open Sewing Lab drop-in where participants can
bring in their own sewing projects to work on, get help with
troubleshooting, and sewing ideas from sewing experts! Full and
Partial Scholarship options are available for REACH youth classes.
Scholarship amounts will be reflected at checkout if you complete the
scholarship section of the registration form and if the remaining
scholarships are still available.
