Volunteer Opportunity: Downriver Camp Paraprofessional - Southgate, MI 2025
Description
This position is for a volunteer paraprofessional, provided by a camper's family, to offer individualized support to a specific child enrolled in the YMCA day camp program.The primary responsibility is to assist the designated camper with all facets of their day camp experience, which may include, but is not limited to, personal care, behavioral support, social integration, participation in activities, and transitions throughout the day. The goal is to ensure the camper's safety, comfort, and ability to fully engage in all camp activities.Key Requirements:YMCA Leadership Approval:The individual must be approved by YMCA leadership prior to serving in this role.Mandatory Screening: Completion of all required YMCA and State Licensing background checks and screenings is compulsory.Required Training: The individual must successfully complete all mandated YMCA and State Licensing training relevant to day camp operations, child supervision, and safety before the start of their service.If you have additional questions regarding your role as a volunteer, about the YMCA, or would like to donate, please contact Jackie at jacqueline.ford@ymcadetroit.org*The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of children in our programs.
