Join staff from the RILEY PURGATORY BLUFF CREEK WATERSHED DISTRICT,
the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and other local
agencies to learn about ZEBRA MUSSELS. We’ll answer your questions
and discuss: ZEBRA MUSSEL INFESTATION ON LAKE RILEY NEXT STEPS FOR
MANAGEMENT IMPLICATIONS FOR OTHER LOCAL LAKES WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP
THIS EVENT IS FREE, RSVP is required. More INFORMATION: ZEBRA
MUSSELS, an aquatic invasive species (AIS), were recently discovered
on Lake Riley. These MUSSELS LIVE IN DENSE CLUSTERS AND CAN SPREAD
QUICKLY. They attach to docks, boats, rocks, logs, and other surfaces
in the lake, and can create threats to recreation and to the stability
of a lake ecosystem. While many local lakes have ZEBRA MUSSELS, this
is the first lake within the RILEY PURGATORY BLUFF CREEK WATERSHED
DISTRICT where they have been spotted. Questions? Contact Maya at
mswope@rpbcwd.org.
