Twin Cities Wine Education is pleased to present a comprehensive overview of a little known wine region. THE INCREDIBLE WINES OF AUSTRIA PRESENTED BY JASON KALLSEN WITH SPECIAL GUEST BILL SUMMERVILLE Wachau, Kremstal, Kamptal.  Prädikatswein, Strohwein, Tafelwein.  Steinfeder, Federspiel, Smaragd. Regions, levels, styles, designations, and we haven't even touched upon the grape varieties (Gruner Veltliner, Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Welshriesling, and more). There is so much to learn about this ancient land of wine, and this class is the single best way to do it. In this comprehensive evening, we'll cover the history of Austrian wine (and the major influences from both eastern and western Europe on the final product), the geography of the region (including ideas for travel), and the complex array of grape varieties and quality designations. The irony is that Austrian wine is easy to figure out after you know the secrets! We'll taste a wide range of fascinating wines, many of which are the darlings of the sommelier crowd while discussing food and wine pairings and how to find bang for the buck.
