A _HOUSE AS OLD_ as this one _BECOMES_, in _TIME_, a _LIVING THING_.Celebrate preservation month with the remarkable story of a whimsical Queen-Ann Victorian (built in 1887) turned commodious Georgian Revival by famed architect Edwin Hewitt. The home at 300 CLIFTON, which is considered the finest example of Georgian Revival architecture in the state of Minnesota, is also the birthplace of the MINNEAPOLIS arts movement. Eugene Carpenter and his wife, Merrette, most notably established the MINNEAPOLIS Institute of Art in 1915. Experience the history of the legendary Carpenter family, and also the lesser-known stories of the maids, chauffeurs, and friends of CLIFTON AVENUE. Take a historical journey back to a pivotal time in MINNEAPOLIS history. Follow that history as the mansion is transformed from a first class family home into a multi-family complex, then a bustling office building and, most recently, a lovingly restored Bed & Breakfast. Join us at 300 Clifton for our "Sip & See" on May 19th. Tour the estate and enjoy the company of neighbors and fellow preservationists.
